Let Your Smile Shine Bright with Professional Teeth Whitening

It doesn’t take much to boost your confidence — a new outfit, a good hair day, a glowing compliment. And when you feel better about yourself, it shows. You walk taller, have more energy, and smile more — unless your teeth are stained and dingy.

While missing teeth, chips, cracks, and gaps can all make you tight-lipped and hesitant to smile or laugh, discolored teeth are one of the most common reasons people shy away from revealing their smile — and that can tank your self-confidence no matter what you’re wearing or how fabulous your hair looks.

If you’re holding back your smile because you feel self-conscious about the yellow-brown hue and the stubborn stains, we can help with professional-grade teeth whitening that will transform your smile — and it just may improve your confidence and your life, too!

At SmileBoutique in Mount Vernon, New York, our cosmetic dental experts led by Wayne Hofflich, DDS, want you to feel confident in all you do, and we know a healthy white smile is a great start. That’s why we use the safest, most advanced whitening system — Philips Zoom!®

Whether you want to improve your smile so you can feel more confident about applying for a promotion, asking someone on a date, or hosting a dinner party, we can brighten your smile quickly so you can be ready after just one visit.

Why professional teeth whitening is better

Simply put: Over-the-counter products just don’t work as well as professional teeth whitening treatments. That’s because we use gels that contain up to 40% hydrogen peroxide solutions, the strongest whitening chemicals available. You may notice a minor improvement after using off-the-shelf whiteners, but nothing beats the Philips Zoom! system for getting rid of tobacco, food, and beverage stains, or discoloration due to aging.

You can’t buy the same chemicals we use, because safe application relies on the experience and expertise of our dental professionals. We ensure the process is safe, and we maintain the health of your teeth and gums every step of the way.

And unlike drugstore products, our treatment takes only one application, and you can get it done over your lunch break.

Preparing for Zoom! Teeth whitening

When you’re ready for your Zoom! Teeth whitening treatment, leave all the prep work to us. We start by thoroughly cleaning your teeth to remove bacteria and plaque, so the whitening gel can penetrate your enamel.

We also take the time to look for any potential problems that the teeth whitening chemicals may exacerbate, such as tooth decay, gum disease, or cracked teeth. The whitening agents can make even a small problem worse. If it turns out you have an issue, we may delay your teeth whitening treatment until we treat and resolve the other conditions.

If all is well, we show you how the color of your teeth will change during the treatment. Many patients come in saying they want the whitest, brightest shade possible. But that’s not always the best choice, because it can look unnatural, which may call attention to your smile for all the wrong reasons. We offer multiple shades that will dazzle without being dizzying.

What to expect from your Zoom! whitening process

To protect your lips and cheeks from the whitening agent, we use a cheek retractor to keep them out of the way, and so we can easily access your teeth. We also use a protective gel and a rubber guard to keep your gums and other soft tissues safe.

Finally, we apply the whitening agent to the fronts of your teeth.

While the gel goes to work evaporating the stains, we monitor you to make sure you don’t have an adverse reaction and to make sure your teeth reach the shade of whiteness you desire.

The whole process typically takes about an hour. Once it’s finished, you simply brush, rinse, and go about your day. No recovery time is required.

Tips for keeping your smile bright

Don’t be alarmed if your teeth feel a little sensitive after your treatment — that should subside in a few days. Many of our patients report that they have no hypersensitivity whatsoever, which is likely due to the fluoride, potassium nitrate, and other desensitizers we use to reduce sensitivity.

You should be able to see your results immediately following your treatment — in fact, you may be surprised that your teeth look even whiter than you expected. After a day or two, your results normalize, and you’ll see the true shade of your newly whitened teeth.

You can expect your results to last 1-3 years, and you can help extend that time by:

Most people only need one treatment, but depending on your oral health and your aesthetic goals, we may recommend a second treatment.
